America the Beautiful, or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims’ pride; I’m glad they’ll never see.
Nothing to argue here.
The people have no voice, Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty, your house is on the sand.
Here the author is disturbed by the alarming rate of abortion in our land.

Our children wander aimlessly poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts, when God has said abstain.
Here the author is concerned with the enormity of the drug problem in our land as well as indulgent behavior.
Emergency physicians see first-hand the devastating consequences of illegal drug use.
More than half a million (638,484) drug-related emergencies were reported in 2001 - nearly a 75 percent increase over 1990 (371,208). Nearly 20,000 people in 2000 died of drug-related causes.
After a long climb, the first significant downturn in youth drug use in nearly a decade was reported among 8th, 10th, and 12th graders, according to the 2002 Monitoring the Future study.
Illegal drugs exact an enormous toll on society, taking 52,000 lives annually and draining the economy of $160 billion a year. Everyone pays the toll in the form of higher healthcare costs, dangerous neighborhoods, and an overcrowded criminal justice system.
Parents are the first line of defense in preventing illegal drug use.
The American College of Emergency Physicians in 2003 partnered with the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy to conduct a national campaign to dispel the myth that marijuana is harmless.
How prevalent is the problem?
A.
- About 20 million Americans over age 12 reported current use of drugs in 2005, and an estimated 22.2 million persons aged 12 or older were classified with substance dependence or abuse in the past year, according to the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse (2005).
- Illegal drugs exact an enormous toll on society, taking tens of thousands of lives annually and draining the economy of billions each year. Everyone pays the toll in the form of higher health care costs, dangerous neighborhoods, and an overcrowded criminal justice system.
- Twenty-one percent of 8th graders, 38 percent of 10th graders and 50 percent of 12th graders to have ever tried any illicit drug in their lifetimes, according to the Monitoring the Future study in 2005. This means half of students today have tried an illicit drug by the time they finish high school.
- About 112 million Americans reported using an illegal drug at least once in their lives in 2005, and more than 35 million had used an illegal drug in the past year.
Marijuana. In 2005 an estimated 3.4 million people used marijuana on a daily or near-daily basis. That statistic is about the same as it was in 2004. There were 215,656 emergency department mentions of marijuana/hashish in 2004, almost double the number from 2001.
Cocaine. From 2004 to 2005 the number of cocaine users nationally held steady at approximately 2.4 million. There were 872,000 first time cocaine users in 2005. The number of cocaine related emergency department visits has spiked in recent years, from 193,034 emergency department mentions of cocaine in 2001, to 383,350 in 2004.
Heroin. An estimated 108,000 new users were reported in 2005, down from 149,000 in 1999, although the number of heroin users has increased by nearly 50 percent since 1994. There were 162,137 emergency department mentions of heroin in 2004, up from 93,064 mentions of heroin/morphine in 2001.
Inhalants. There were 877,000 new inhalant users in 2005, down from 991,000 in 1999. Approximately three-quarters (72 percent) of the first-time users were under the age of 18.
Sexually active young teens Nearly 3 in 10 (27%) thirteen to sixteen year-olds are sexually active and “have been with someone in an intimate or sexual way.” Most of these sexually active teens have touched someone else’s genitals and almost half had oral sex and/or had sexual intercourse. Sexual activity is much more common among 15 to 16 year-olds (41%) than 13 to 14 year-olds (14%).
From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God’s love and a need to always pray.
We’ve kept God in our temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool, and Heaven is His throne.
Christianity and America
Last week, I heard it again: That oft-repeated urban legend that we’ve heard so often. This time, to my horror, I heard it from a well-educated pastor: “Our founding fathers were not Christians. They were deists, atheists, and agnostics.”Au contraire!
The pilgrims, as you will recall, were, Christians fleeing Europe in order to escape religious persecution, and they literally began their stay in their new land with the words, “In the name of God, Amen.”
The pilgrims were followed to New England by the Puritans, who created bible-based commonwealths. Those commonwealths practiced the same sort of representative government as their church covenants. Those governmental covenants and compacts numbered more than 100, and were the foundation for our Constitution.
New Haven (Connecticut) and Massachusetts were founded by Puritans who wanted to reform the Church of England, who later became known as Congregationalists. Roger Williams founded the colony of Rhode Island based on the principle of freedom of conscience. Pennsylvania was established by William Penn as a Quaker colony. Maryland was a haven for Catholics from Protestant England.
America was indeed founded by bible-believing Christians and based on Christian principles. When they founded this country, the Founding Fathers envisioned a government that would promote and encourage Christianity.
All but two of the first 108 universities founded in America were Christian. This includes the first, Harvard, where the student handbook listed this as Rule #1: “Let every student be plainly instructed and earnestly pressed to consider well, the main end of his life and studies is to know God and Jesus Christ, which is eternal life, John 17:3; and therefore to lay Jesus Christ as the only foundation for our children to follow the moral principles of the Ten Commandments."
In 1777. Continental Congress voted to spend $300,000 to purchase bibles which were to be distributed throughout the 13 colonies! And in 1782, the United States Congress declared, “The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools.
So, let us take a look at some of the lives and words of our Founding Fathers to see whether they were Christians or whether history has been revised.

We’ve voted in a government that’s rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges who throw reason out the door.
Ok I’m not going to give direct documentation but let me just refresh the memory a bit…
Oral sex in the White House, foot tapping homosexuality, affairs in Argentina, Illegitimate children..let’s blame the secretary, cover it up and then still try to run for the presidency, tax evasion, the dude that tried to sell the senate seat in Illinois, payoffs for votes… come on my keyboard is rotting just typing this stuff!!!
Too soft to place a killer in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby before he leaves the womb.
Not posting documentation here either but let’s remember OJ Simpson, the trials coming to New York, the Christmas bomber who was given Miranda Rights….. need I say more? You think that God’s not angry, that our land’s a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God, from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do, but stem this evil tide?
Read the book of Judges. If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray:
Seek His holy face and mend our evil way;
Then God will hear from Heaven and forgive us of our sins,
He’ll heal our sickly land and those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful, if you don’t – then you will see,
A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.
This is just a poetic rendition of II Chronicles 7:14 Judge Roy Moore
So…… now then I am curious to know what your diametrically opposing view really is here. The poem points out three grave concerns. Moral decay, poor governing, and the turning away from God.
Yes, this is a judge but he is first and foremost a Christian, therefore the argument that he somehow is mixing Church and State is not valid, unless you are saying a judge should not be a Christian. We do live in the land of religious freedom, but tell me why then my children can’t carry a Bible to school? Did not the government infringe upon the rights of my children?
You say the judge is not following Jesus, yet I see nothing that the Bible does not teach. Where in the entirety of the poem is anger, jealousy, fear, or hate mentioned?
Where in the entirety of the poem is this man slinging a club at ANY other religions!?! Where oh where is all this persecution you speak of?
I do know this though the author didn’t say it, Jesus did….Matthew 10:34 Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth, I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
You do not need to sling a club, Jesus has already spoken of how other religions will look down on us… Matthew 24:9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of Me.”

Yep, had a feeling my comment could fan a flame. You had the conviction to put up your post for which I am wildly supportive and admire the strength of your character. Just had a hope that you would recognize the same for me.
As I had also said, I come from a long line of people who have civilly 'agreed to disagree'. I think your children are beautiful and blessed. I think you are another great American. I just have a different source of 'facts' that have shaped me differently from how your sources have shaped you. So I will acknowledge the difference and step back and remain only in those areas in which we share commonality.

WOW! Lisa, there's no arguing those facts. Great job!! I couldn't agree more.
Welcome to the political blogosphere, Lisa.
P.S: Let's get ready to rumble
I suppose it matters where you live but, I can see the decline in moral values very cleary around here.
This nation was indeed founded on Christian principles (thus we see "in God we trust" stamped into our money) and while we respectfully aknowledge citizens who do not believe in Christ we cannot let their beliefs infringe on our right to practice Christian worship and to stand up for what is right and true. We cannot just accept the new lower standards because there are certain things that simply cannot be acceptable.
Thank for sharing the poem and stating your convictions clearly. I love you for it.
