AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL

emblem
I try not to be political on this blog, but this was so good.
America the Beautiful, or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims’ pride; I’m glad they’ll never see.

The people have no voice,  Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty, your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts, when God has said abstain.

From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God’s love and a need to always pray.

We’ve kept God in our temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool, and Heaven is His throne.

We’ve voted in a government that’s rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges who throw reason out the door.

Too soft to place a killer in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby before he leaves the womb.

You think that God’s not angry, that our land’s a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God, from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do, but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray:
Seek His holy face and mend our evil way;

Then God will hear from Heaven and forgive us of our sins,
He’ll heal our sickly land and those who live within.

But, America the Beautiful, if you don’t – then you will see,
A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.
Judge Roy Moore

Yeah I hate being political on my blog too because it always seems to cause hard feelings these days. I happen to come from a long tradition of being able to "agree to disagree" and have lots of personal friends on all levels of the political spectrum but when it's a 'virtual' friend who ever knows??
As someone who holds a very diametrically opposite political view to the author of this poem I would offer the opposing side of the debate...
How very sad that a JUDGE(??) in a country with a constitution that keeps a separation between church and state does not practice the law of the land! Countries that use their majority religious views to legislate are vastly inhumane places to live...i.e. Iraq, Iran, Saudia Arabia. Our first fathers suffered that inhumane treatment in their European homelands thus the need to flee to our shores and establish a place where religion was in the HOME not the COURTROOM! If the Judge's suggestion is to follow Christianity then why does he NOT follow Jesus? Jesus clearly taught "give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's and unto my Father what is the Father's". Jesus also was very clear on showing his love by living a life of LOVE....not anger, jealousy, fear, or hate. We are to "Do unto others as we would have them do unto us" which is what is actually lacking in the country these days!! I love my Jewish, Muslim, and Agnostic neighbors and will not use my Christianity as a club resulting in them looking down on my religion. I also will not stand by silently as they are made to feel persecuted by persons who hold positions in the government such as a JUDGE! We are ALL GOD'S CHILDREN....aren't we?!?

I have read your argument and have a few ideas you may need to ponder:
1)The constitution says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." How is a man writing poetry violating the laws of the land! Have you even read the Constitution?
2)The countries you mention are countries that practice religions based in violence. "And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is more severe than slaughter..."K 2:190-191. Christianity is a religion that preaches peace. " If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."
Matthew 5:39 (Though I do remain to believe what the constitution says. I am not advocating a forced Christian nation by any means!)
3)In the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The ONLY state established for the purpose of “religious freedom” , It was truly a colony for Puritan freedom. Religion WAS in the courtroom. Those people that believed anything in opposition to that were exiled. i.e. Roger Williams. Though it is true that the founders believed that Religion should be taught in the home, they also maintained that American was established for the purpose of creating a CHRISTIAN nation. This thought was maintained till the beginning of the twentieth century, promoting movements including Manifest Destiny, temperance, public school movement ect.
4)You state If the Judge's suggestion is to follow Christianity then why does he NOT follow Jesus? Jesus clearly taught "give unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's and unto my Father what is the Father's". Jesus was saying to pay taxes as well as tithe. Are you accusing him of tax evasion?!?!?
5) Jesus did live a life of love, it is true. When the people were committing sin though, what did he do? “He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves.” Matthew 21:12 You say Christians “anger, jealousy, fear and hate.” well next time you hear of one turning over tables because of the sin in government, PLEASE tell me. Which brings me to my next point…
6) I see Christians that do love. Pouring out both prayer and money for people overseas as well as here at home! I am a Junior in High School. Christians, Catholics, and Jews are best friends! I never see a Christians using a “club” EVER. (I do however feel like I am beaten everyday by the liberal opposition, being called “stupid, radical, fear-mongering, and the list goes on and on..” When a man cannot even write a poem about his feelings without being lashed out against, who is holding the club?)
7) Did the judge convict you of anything?! Did he speak down to anyone?! And even if he did which he did not , “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech.”
He has the right to say what he feels, (as do you or I) He harmed no one made no questionable judgment, or pushed his view off an anyone else. It is a shame that you give him a teeth-lashing for what he believes. Which is all you have done. Because he did not “persecute” you. You oppose what he believes, nothing more. Your argument is filled with holes and stereotypes in order to promote an agenda. The man is a judge yes, but as you clearly stated… We are ALL GOD'S CHILDREN....aren't we?!?
